Staying Healthy

Avoiding the progression of liver disease is essential to maintaining overall health and well-being.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 70 percent of those chronically infected with hepatitis C ultimately will develop chronic liver disease.

While most of those with chronic hepatitis B will remain "healthy carriers" for their entire lives and not demonstrate any evidence of liver damage, others will ultimately develop liver failure (cirrhosis) and/or liver cancer.
